🎶 On Sunday 11th November our senior orchestra “Symphonie” took a trip to Blessington, Co.
Wicklow to collaborate with their colleagues of the East Meets West orchestra. As always they were greeted with a warm welcome and an enjoyable day was had for all. Upon arrival everyone lent a hand in getting a prompt set up for rehearsals. Following their successful rehearsal, students, teachers and parents alike were treated to some delicious homemade dinners and treats by the hospitable Wicklow community. The day-trip finished with a performance in the Church of Our Lady. The programme consisted of a variety of genres including Jamaican rhumba, a Spanish piece - La Paloma as well as some traditional Irish tunes; The Butterfly, Éamonn an chnoic to name but a few. The performance also featured horn soloist Kevin O’Hara. The orchestra also provided the accompaniment to their children’s choir for a rendition of ‘The Animals’. The combined orchestra performed in turn under the baton of Wicklow conductor Colm O’Hara and our very own Sorcha Walsh. Undoubtedly an enjoyable day was had for all involved and we look forward to hosting this collaborative orchestra in the future. 🎶 |
